Part of a spring axle trailer though we really like spring axles.

Try spraying down all the pivot points and moving parts with WD40 or something similar. Soak it good and try to spray so it can penetrate in between leafs. May have to cover what you dont want to spray it on. Be careful around brakes. I used to do this when I fished salt water a lot. May take a couple of applications to penetrate between springs.

I have a 93 P2 that Ive finally gotten restored to as close to new as I think possible. She looks good and draws a lot of attention at the boat ramps, and when I pull in and away she gets a extra bit of attention by the obnoxious squeaking!!! I was wondering if anybody has replaced some type of bushings in the spring hangers……. Or know what or where the best place to start is??? Im trying to figure out a way to get the boat completely off the trailer this winter to re do the whole trailer, such as bunks and such, but this squeaking might get addressed earlier. Its driving me crazy!!! Any experienced advice appreciated.

It is a 2006 dual axel for my new to me puma. Lots of squeaks (not from brakes) when going over bumps and such. Metal to metal type squeaks. Doesnt sound bad just old. More like its been “rode hard and put up wet”. Just wondering if I need to grease some joints and if it is ok/normal.

You most definitely need to lube the hinge point on your break away tongue. I would also check where the torsion arms are bolted to the axle for tightness. Also check the lag bolts that hold the bunk boards down. Check your fender bolts and if the glue has let go where they are glued down. I would probably just do a good check of anything on the trailer thats bolted on. The best thing about the whole deal is you have an amazing support network and a manufacturer that has all the parts readily available for shipment. Also check for the plastic pieces that go between the brake actuator and the inside of the trailer frame.

2006 trailers had leaf springs at least my old 06 Puma trailer did. Check the shackle bushings theyre probably worn out. You can order replacement bushings from BCB. Also check to makes sure none if the leafs are broke. You can spray the down with penetrating oil it will help some. Last edited by PumaDave on August 19th, 2016, 12:30 am, edited 1 time in total.

My 08 puma trailer makes all kinds of creaking and popping noises especially when turning to back down the ramp. I thought it was normal maybe I should check it out.

What would you suggest to lube the break away tongue with?
