when I shut down my 2000 model 200 opti yesterday to catch some hybrids I heard a humming noise in my engine, I knew what it was and I first took off the hood and hit the starter with a plastic handle….no luck, then I unhooked the positive battery cable. When I put the cable back on the post the starter it would start turning motor over without even turning the key. The gear on top of starter will pop up but wont go down, without some help, I put lube on the gear and the spring,, still no luck.. Would you guys suspect my starter is shot not? Is this something I can take off and have rebuilt or do I need to take it to the mechanic? Thanks guys. Hybrids are tearin it up and Im boatless now.. this sucks.. gotta get it going..
