Well, the Puma hung me out two weeks ago. About 2 miles from the launch, upwind, and the big motor did not crank. Started trolling back after checking the things I could. Hada humbling experiance, the Honey Boo Boo family on a pontoon boat asked if I needed a tow. I accepted and prayed no one would see. Got cut loose far enough from ram to make like I was fishing back to the launch. Got to the launch and the thing started! Went home and every 6th key turn, it would crank. Did some trouble shooting and convinced myself it was the starter relay (not the starter bendix). Got a new one, slapped it on and all Memorial Day weekend it was perfect. BTW, I disected the old relay anad it was fine. Went out yesterday, dropped the trolling motor and fished for 30 minutes. Went to start the big motor (225 ProXS) and NOTHING!!!!!!!!!! trolled back, this time it would not crank and had to man handle onto the trailer among the bank and dock boober crowd. Get off the ramp and the thing cranks!!!Got home and what I believe it is is the plug from the enging to the boat. It is at the lowest point in the area right infront of the engine that gets dowsed with water every time we come off plane. It took 30 minutes of heat gung and penetrant to finally get it apart. All the pins were corroded and one stayed stuck in the female side. So, A little preventative maintenance on that plug with some di-electric may have saved me embarrassment and money.
