BCB Owners, As we enter into 2011, we want to take a moment to reflect on a topic of friendship we have here and that we hope everyone will express that openness to others. These are among the most tumultuous and changing times we have seen in our soon 40 years of building Bass Cat Boats. We expect things change even more than they ever did in 2010. The next 12 months will be quite changing in the bass fishing world and never have we experienced so much change on so many major fronts. Opportunities will be developing for BCB as we enter in 2011. Things will change in 11 and we all must respect other brands of boats as there is a tremendous amount of pride in some of those ownerships. Those owners are already feeling left out as the Auction left two companies inside of the building with Ranger, in that BK purchase. Things are not stopping there and we fully expect that to rotate around in the next few days with announcements from the corporate leadership. If (when) that happens, please be nice, play fair and respect those who have other brands of boats. The owners of those other boat brands all felt they made the best decisions with their discretionate dollars. Their feelings will be easily tarnished by an on line post without thought. Though they had little to do with those corporate decisions no one controls. They were mere customers who bought a boat and felt there was longevity in that decision. Many of you are passionate about BCB and we appreciate that, though we need to keep all things in perspective as things develop. There will be engine decisions, boat decisions and more that will be open for people to rethink a decision on a product they have. Please be respectful of their position. Lets just all keep trying to not be in that position, at and in our BCBs. Just like you they have a lot of pride in that boat and motor, so lets show them the class we have as well. Thanks! Well said for sure Rick. Thanks for all you do and the standards you set.
Well said, and very timely. Thank you for all you, your family, and BCB do for all of us. You represent the pinnacle of a great group of passionate friends and family. We are all honored to share it.Mike Whitten
I agree – well said Rick.Normally I wouldnt respond to this post but as a new owner of a BassCat your words sort of told my experience in my researching of boats over the past year and half. I researched how boats were made, how each company stood behind their boat, boaters experiences, and drove quiet a few different kinds. I made a list of pros and cons. During my research I saw the enthusiasm BassCat owners seemed to have for their boats. At times though it seemed the enthusiasm turned into a this is the best boat and all others are second class and, to be frank, that was kind of a turn off for me. Thankfully I did not include that enthusiasm as part of my pros and cons list because I really like this boat. The Puma FTD just felt right and fit my style. I think the best boat out there is the one thats best for you and not the one best for someone else. I traded in a Nitro for the BassCat. Four years ago the Nitro was what I could afford and was the best boat for me at that time. And Ill tell you, I caught a lot more fish out of that Nitro than I have out of the BassCat – of course that may have something to do with bass not being able to catch up to a lure traveling 70 mph
Very well said Rick. With this statement it truly shows what kind of First Class folks that us as customers are very fortunate to have as friends and building the boats we buy. Thank you BCB for who you are and what you stand for.
I totally agree. Now Guys QUIT making fun of my Evinrude E-TEC H.O.s!!!!!! Seriously I do think that most folks are fully realizing what makes a “smart purchase”…..I talked to a guy today that was looking at a Texas brand, a NEW Tenn. brand, and owns a Gambler. He was looking at the Eyra but also like the Classic 20s, once we discussed the “back side” of buying a boat these days, as in who owns them, are they in good financial shape, are they owned by a motor company, etc….We did agree that the Pierce Family is probably pretty secure these days, just like the Allison Family is just fine, more than likely neither brand will be owned by Platinum Equity or Irwin Jacobs in the coming months…..I do hope all familys effected by plant closures or belt tightening, owners of boats that may have a new style of warranty claim the best. I do feel that in the 3 or 4 yrs Ive sold BCB that they are Easily the Hottest brand of bass boat out, most introduction since 2008, unless you call sticker changes model changes, plus with the financial situations happening and general exposure, maybe you guys will buy up some defunct companys, kind of like the Skif Cats, any ski boat company or molds out their Rick, you can Splash me a Hydrostream V-King or Ventura, lay it up right and use your propreitary building process, but it have to be Malibu Silver and Coral!!!!! Brannon
just wondering if youve given this second thoughts, yet? id vote for ya!
As always………Bass Cat Boats = CLASS
I came from a family owned Tool & Die shop that my father owned for 35.5 years before he retired. About 1989 I ran into (while looking at another brand) a Bass Cat Caracal. I did pretty much the same research as bass1958, and compared the “Family” to the others, liked what I saw and the way things were done. I was sold, for the last 21 years I have never looked back. The service, with the 1 and only major issue I had was resolved in 1 phone call and w/in 24 hours. Rick you and the rest of the “Family” are just as reliable as mom and dad!!! Glad, no proud to be a member of this exclusive group. Thanks for everything!!! I still remember the day I woke up and you were beside my Cat at the Kentucky Lake Dam, for the nationals for ABC. It was like a dream, to see the Bolt on the truck I knew who you were long before I had the pleasure to meet you. By the way my 1999 Cougar w/ the 225 EFI is still running 74.7 mph on GPS, and still looks like it did in 99 after I bought it from Pat Kowell. Thanks again!!!with respect George Gilmore.
