STEP BOX WITH BENCH SEATS

Does anybody have pictures of their bench seats with an added carpeted step box. I have a 2002 classic with the 6 piece bench seat, and Im considering the carpeted step box. Ill have to take the middle backrest off, and Im concerned about the appearance. Anybody with pictures or advice would be appreciated. The 2002 is the older seat style. That would mean the step box might not work. We dont think it is a retro unless you have the matching new style buckets.

Hmmmm. Interesting – I spoke with Bobby on the phone today, and he suggested this upgrade. He said that he had done that on one of his boats. Please clarify if this will even work. I too was under the impression that this retro would work, though you do lose the back cushion from the middle seat and need to cover up the former pop-rivet holes with screws and black screw caps. Thought about doing this to my 01 P-III, but Im concerned the end result might look a little cheesy! Anybody got pictures?

Yall need to keep in mind there are 2 different configurations under those seats. That is one pictured above but some of the older P2/Classics were different. BCB will explain soon but I seem to remember it does work on the seat pictured above it is the older bench that it doesnt work as well on. Good looking boat DPT… Judd Lasiter

Thanks Judd. Although its not an 08 Cougar FTD like yours, its still my baby and Im really proud of it. Im always just trying to update things for improved appearance and functionality. Yes it can be done. You would have to pull out both the top and bottom center pieces. A few rivet holes would be left that you would have to dress up as well. Functionally it will work fine though the appearance will be left up to you. We dont have any pics though a few people have done it before you. BCB

I put the step box in my 2001 cougar and it looks fine to me but I dont have any pictures of it to show you. The only thing I found is that when you pull the back cushion out other than pluging the rivet holes it also opens up the latch on the live well so you have to make sure it is locked or it will fly open when running and on the trailer going down the road…IF ITS NOT A CAT ITS A DOG BASSCAT BOATS 2001 COUGAR 225 YAMAHA….www.dropshotdennys.com

Thanks macbass. Good advice about the livewell. I always keep mine latched, so I dont think that part would bother me. Im still somewhat concerned about the appearance. Id love to see some pictures.
