Step Extension Idea for BassCat

The second step on my trailer from the factory was very small and easy for my foot to slip off . I had a step extension made and bolted it on the existing step. Makes it much easier to “find” climbing in or out of the boat.

jignpig- Sorry, I have not actually checked that yet. Before I put it on, I measured it and it was fine but since I dont use the swing away feature I have not actually tried it. I keep my boat out at my lake place. Ill go there this weekend and try it. I was reading recently on this site that you should use it once in awhile just to make sure it is working correctly.

Worked fine! No problem with it hitting the boat. The grab bar hits the rub rail first. Could even make it a little larger if you would want. This one is 10″ X 6″. Sorry my trailer is dirty. Put some oil on the hinge and pins first. No problem opening it up and Ill bet it has been at least a year since I used it. My bad but I dont need to use it where I store the boat.

They need to weld the step piece on the back side of the angled 2″ tube instead of the side and it would work much better. Pro-Tec Productswww.protecproducts.com

Thanks for the look, of course they didnt want to have a major piece of metal there on the grab post. They do have a nice idea they are trying on a future project that is really cool.
