Friend of mine is about to buy a Stratos Evolution with a 250 Rude on it. I am not trying to start a pot stirring post, but would like to know if anyone has heard any pros/cons to this boat. The dealer who is selling it has had it out and I know it will fly, but I wonder if that speed will sacrifice handling, rough water, etc. Ive looked over the boat and it seems to be laid out nice, that being said, I love my P4 and think youd be hard pressed to lay one out better than that. Thanks, Bryan.
It aint a Cat…nuff said. Judd Lasiter PS – Go ask the Stratos guys on the bassboatcentral.com You arent going to get an opinion other than buy a Cat or you are making a mistake (myself included) from anyone here. We know what we have.
True, if it aint a cat its a dog…
It is your friends money and ultimately his decision. I have not heard any pro/cons about the boat, just read a few pages on the bassboat central stratos owner website. http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zeroforum?id=45. Most BassCat owners would feel he is making a wrong choice, including me. Hopefully he has done some homework and ridden in all boats he is thinking about. Yes the boat will be fast, so is a Cat. How about the rough water ride, overall construction, attention to detail, a warranty better than anyone in the business wants to even try to match, a great dealership base, customer service without equal, almost instantaneous contact with the founders of the company if needed…if he can truely say brand S is better, then he has to live with that choice. If you like tons of plastic, then youll love the consoles on the Evolution. BTW- Resale on a Stratos is one of the worst youll find !
BCBs 5th straight JD Powers Award Nuff said!!11
I have a friend that has been runnin stratos for years he just got the new evolution and it looks good on the outside but if you look under the lids and see how it;s constructed and look at how much plastic is used to make it look nice then you will realise it;s not all its cracked up to be. Angler 557 is right the resale on them is poor…. Thell him to get into a Cat and leave the wanna be triton/ ranger where its at and he wil be happier…
I have talked to a few guys with evos and they love them as we love our Cats. But i think if he drove a Puma or Cougar with a 250 he would see its not any faster. The Cat rides better, has 1000 times the customer service as genmar co., and will be there in better shape for many years to come. I had quite a few new Stratos before going to Champions and Cats. i think he should drive both on a decent sized lake on a windy day and compare. Look at 5-10 year old boats and see which ones stand the test of time. Just my thoughts TOO SUM IT UP ITS NOT A BASS CAT!
I looked fairly closely at the Stratos Evolution when it came out and was impressed. It is a good looking boat, and I think it is possibly faster than the Puma with equal horsepower. Guys that own them seem to love the boat, and all that I know that have driven them have been very impressed, especially with the value you get for the dollar. I was unimpressed with the seats used by Stratos, as they felt uncomfortable to me. I also was not crazy about the rod racks. I did, however, like the price for which some have been able to purchase a Stratos Evolution. I purchased the boat that was right for me, but I bet the Evolution is the right boat for alot of people. Where are the Pics of your boat?? I was hoping to see some of while its in production or do you already have it and havent posted??? On the Stratos, most here are 100% right, since I am not a fisherman I can tell you the Boat stuff from a sales opinion….Like mentioned above you will see the differences in the MSRP, way different, Dash, Compartments, Gel Coat, Poly Flake, Striping and their Detail, Hull design, Strake straightness, sharpness, Look down the sides of ALL Fiberglass boats being considered and see how straight they all look, then double check the Cat, you”ll be shocked on that one, also Vinyl, Carpet, and trim on carpet, Screw Exposed vs. Where used BCB uses Square Head screws that are definitely of a better grade of metal, Foam in the seat along with Ergonomic feel for all sizes and shapes ( So Far), Uniqueness of the Boat, are you gonna see 1-3 or 10-25? Sliding in the corners or hold on in the corners? Rough water capabilities, Re-sale, TRAILER, TRAILER,TRAILER, right their is EZ $3500 difference, BCBs are a work of art, the easiest of all the glass boats with custom trailers that I have sold…..Probably BCB is the most Forward thinking Company that I have encountered in the marine business, now Ive sold 21 Brands at my last marina, from Ranger, Malibu, Stratos,to Aluminum and toons, these guys really do care about the boats and most of all YOU…Like the pros here are told ya, drive and inspect every boat you are considering, get all of your #s out, and see what boat company suits you the best….You will not be sorry if you make it a 20FT BCB, Ive had several gentleman out of other brands, and they are IN LOVE with their BCB, whether its the Pantera 4 with the 200 Opti or a Custom Puma with a 225 HO E-TEC, the boats will do all the talking…..Sorry for being so long winded, but those are the differences that were fresh in my head……Good luck in your search, and enjoy….Brannon MARKSQUALITYMARINE.COMYour Signature …
