Stuck front seat pedestal

I have a 2012 Cougar FTD, does anybody have any tips or ideals how to get a stuck seat pedestal out. Thanks in advance for your help.

How was it stuck? Sitting for a long time, etc? My first attempt would be to take an old belt (leather) and wrap around it, followed by a pipe wrench. See if you can get it to turn. Id like to get some PB blaster in there, but you REALLY need to be careful about the carpet. Perhaps some duct tape to seal around the bottom edge of the mount, with some plastic (or maybe a milk jug with the top cut off) to give the carpet protection, followed by PB, and again the leather belt. If the belt slips, you can take a pipe wrench directly to the seat pole, but you will probably want to replace it. And you might want to anyway if the bottom is rusted or corroded.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

I guess from sitting along time, it was that way when I bought it. I have put a pipe wrench on it and it will turn back and forth but cant get it to come up and out at all.

Best bet is to get some penetrating oil in it. Then twist and lift at the same time. A helper to pull straight up while you turn might do the trick.Another idea. If you have a come-along, fasten it securely to the post, then fasten it to something overhead that is pretty strong. Lean on it to put a lot of upward pressure on the post, then use your pipe wrench to move it back and forth, letting gravity and the come-along supply the upward pressure to pull it out. This is slight upwards pressure onthe pipe wrench as you twist it. We prefer a soap solution on thempedestal pin. The lubricating oil or whatever penetrant you use must be sparingly if used as its going to ruin the carpeting and glue around the deck. Strap wrench, pipe vise grips, or band wrench around the pedestal base and wedge the pin base up with a wooden plate and wedges as you twist it. It slowly will release some ever twist and will take a few minutes to release. Is it rusted in place and the pins are carbon steel. Its really not common for most as people pull them it occasionally. It is most common on those that dont care well for them and never remove a pedestal. The simple solution is a heavy soap, a smidge of heavy grease (plumbers), or petroleum jelly lightly swabbed on the pin. Nothing too liberal (think conservative – no political references intended) onthe grease or petroleum jelly and just try to keep it off the carpeting.Last edited by Bass Cat Boats on February 19th, 2017, 10:26 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Pipe wrench, 1″ wood block and pry bar done the trick. Cleaned it up and buffed the rust off and added Vaseline to it.
