Sugestions for a Fish Finder for under $350.00

I need to buy a new, or new to me fish finder for under $300. Give me some real world experience either for or against. Please also give me real pros and cons. I have not bought a fish finder in 15+ years. Will be bow mounted on the Trolling motor. Color screen is not that important to me. Like you, I have been on a tight budget for an older rig. I actually bought my front fish finder used off of Bassboat Central. That is somewhat risky though.There was a recent post over there…… http://www.bbcboards.net/zerothread?id=707014&page=1.I would have to look first at the Humminbird for the features, the most bang for the buck, so to speak. The down imaging is different than side imaging, so it would not be affected by the trolling motor, turning. Maybe by high speed, but the down imaging is directly under.Eventually, I will move to color, but I am satisfied with my Matrix 37 on front and 580 gps/combo on the console.Lowrance has always been a strong name and Garmin has a niche following. i bought the lowrance mk 5x dsi. im happy with its performance. only gripe i have about it is that it doesnt come with a screen cover and the clear lens on the display is so shiny it makes it hard to see due to reflections. other than that great unit

I would look at the Lowrance M68c.Its a smaller screen but probably all you would need.It has gps which is great for reading points and depths you are coming up to. (If the lake you fish is known well enough to have contours on the built in map but even if not you will be able to see the land around you). And it has a internal GPS receiver. It is a color screen which really gives you better detail information of whats below.The Lowrances 2D sonar is way better than Humminbirds. Even with the smaller screen I think youll be able to see things better with that unit.Ive used both Lowrances and Humminbirds for a lot of years – both are great but for your budget and what you do – if it were me I would get the M68c.
