Haven’t talked performance in quite a while. Son and I went down to Lay this afternoon, expecting 40% chance of rain and a little cooler weather. Found 94+ degrees on the water, nary a cloud to be seen, water temp between 89.5 and 90.0, and the usual humidity. Guy with a Phoenix / Merc 250 pulled out about the same time we did. We headed up river and he appeared to want to pass us. Denied him that action. Boat ran 74.2 running up river against a current but with a 5-7mph wind. Decided to turn around after we left the Phoenix and headed down river. At the one mile mark, we were seeing 74.3 with the current and against the wind. So they were pretty much a wash. This with 400 pounds of adults, a 40 pound dog, 3/4 tank of fuel and normal tackle (live well empty). Still running a 26p 3 blade fury. RPM was between 5580 and 5640, which is off about 200 from the cold weather performance I usually see. But not too shabby. It appeared we were 2-3 mph faster than the Phoenix. He just had himself in the boat, no clue about fuel and such, but since he had just launched, pretty sure live wells were empty.
Still like the silver steer steering cylinder with the seastar 2.0 ci helm. 3.5 turns lock to lock. Have worked all air out of system and it is rock solid. Boat certainly wants to chine walk if you let go of the wheel, but after some experience, zero. Still a happy camper…
