I am curious if changes have been made to the Sunbrella cover. Reason being i received my new cover today for my 09 cougar and called a friend over to help “stretch” it into place after reading all the other posts about how tight the covers were to fit. I roll the thing out, lay it over the top, and loose out of the box the thing hangs over the rub rails by a good 3″ on either side. It has 2 straps up front to go to the trailer as well that i didnt see on anyone elses. When i tighten the whole deal down there is a solid 6-8″ hanging over the rub rail down the side of the boat. The front and the back reasonably tight, but by the steering wheel i can pull the strap almost a foot out, and at the back the strap is a fiddle string. It almost seems it is too loose if that is possible, and did they add 1 strap on each side up front to help hold it down? I can tell its a very well made cover, its just not quite what i expected from all the other reports.Thanks

The cover strap hooks either connect to the holes on the engine bracket or slip under the jackplate itself. The straps must be very tight. VERY TIGHT! There should be one or two posts to use that must be cut to the desired length. Dual console models may come with one rear and front, while single console models may have up to three posts front, dual console support area and then rear deck. You may have to cut the aluminum posts to length and they still should have some adjustments. The front deck should be set first with the nose and back just behind the trolling motor head. Next pull the rear rear corners over and position those to where they retain some pressure on the boat corners. Tighten it up lightly using the ratchets and if its a Mercury we prefer to place the S hooks into the Rear engine swivel bracket holes just in front of the lower motor mounts. From there pull the slack 1″ webbing taught and begin cross tensioning the cover. Then you can determine how much length the posts should be, and the adjustment allows the cut to be rather open on length. Then the posts in their snap locations and tighten down the cover. You may prefer to tighten the cover down first before trying the posts. The posts have defined snaps for their locations. If you have a Yamaha you can use either the lower corner inside the Jackplate for the S hooks, or we slip them into the swivel bracket and let them tension against the recessed pocket holes in the swivel brackets. Different covers (boat models) require somewhat different strap hook locations. We have had some early on fit issues from the builder on pattern matching. this would be our next thought if the cover does not fit well. We felt most of the fit issues were resolved and Aurora has shown a commitment to solving things and getting it back on the original design lines.

It is a single console and i have 1 post, and the snap is on the front deck. That is the only post that was shipped and the only spot for the post to go. I had the cover straps to engine bracket, I had them cranked what i thought was tight. I could put the front post 90% extended and still get the cover to fit over rub rails. I will be gone at a BFL for the next 2 days so i will not be able to tinker with it until sunday. I appreciate the help,Thanks again
