A 97 P2 will usually have the BP-101 Digital dash. This will work fine, and the default programming is Mercury. You will need 1> Ignition Key Switch harness in a long enough harness to go all the way to the engine. Most are too short for your P2.2> Two throttle and shift cables, (get Premium or Platinum), the 3> recessed control box, plus 4> oil tank and lines. 5> Last you may need a Mercury fuel line if this engine has the plug on fuel fitting at the engine. If it does not, yours present line should fit right on the hose. That should get the job done, and make sure they isolate the ground coming from the trim sender when they mount it. If you do not disconnect the ground to the engine, then the trim gauge will black out when using the trim. The Trim Sender ground must be run directly to the ground block through the 16 gauge wire we have provided and it should be connected to your engine trim under the cowling of your OMC.
