Has anybody fished SWEPCO lake that is around Gentry AR? I understand that it is a hot water lake and u can put big boats in it but only can run them at idle speeds. Me and my fishing partner are planning a trip there in a couple of weeks and was just wondering if any of yall had been there?weeman

yes it is a fun lake.Alot of time it can get crowded but they were working on the ramp and a better parking lot last wintere so i didnt go.We usually make a few trips this time of year.I catch alot of fish there on a small jig,some crankbaits,and if the watere is up in some good cover you can catch some pigs flippin.Pretty easy to navigate but watch out for the other boats there is plenty on the weekends.

I have fished it alot over the years. The ramp and parking area is done. I have not been there this fall so I do not know if they are generating or not. It is always better if the water is warm. The exhaust side while they are generating is over 90 degrees while down at the dam it is usually around 70. I usually fish a 4″ worm. I have had many trips where you would catch over 50 fish in less than 4 hours with an average size of 2 lbs. The lake did not used to be a idle only lake. I would always get on plane and run. Not sure if it is or not now. Night fishing is usually better if you can stand the cold but it gets real foggy so be carefulLast edited by basscathash on December 29th, 2010, 9:10 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Hey guys…I am planning on making a trip up there in the next week or so but I have only fished it twice and that was several years ago. I am wanting to take my pastor who is new to the area and I want to get him on some fish if possible. I vaguely remember the lake from when I was there last. Mostly because it was a stinking blizzard but we caught the fire out of them… I see some pointers on bait selection. Anything else that would help us? Hope everyone has had a safe New Years celebration!-Matt
