RJ,I dumbied when I first tried to swing the tongue on my trailer, but I wiser beer drinking friend pointed out that I must first release the pressure from the winch strap. I dont know if that is your case or not, but I overlooked it. As for the steps: 1. Release the winch strap pressure. 2. Remove pin clips. 3. Pull the pins. 4. Make sure you have everything out of the way around the tongue, then swing. If memory serves me right I may of had to tap the pins from the bottom with a rubber mallet the very first time, but have not had to since.
RJ, Atfer you have completed the steps from unclebigred, make sure and place the pins back into the empty holes so as they dont walk away or get lost. My 2 year old decided to hide mine from me once when I just left them laying on the trailer frame, made for a frantic few seconds early in the morning trying to make it to a derby.Good fishing!Chris
Also make sure as you swing away the tongue to reach behind the frame under the bow and slowly feed the hydrolic line into the tongue. My first time it looked like it was kinking the line at the break. I also pull slightly on it from the back when putting it back in place so it also doesnt get pinched,Just my thoughts.Russell Jacks
Good tip Russell. I always pull on the trailer wiring and brake line to make sure it doesnt get pinched.2005 Sabre, 150 XR6, Minn Kota Fortrex with Lowrance electronics
Everyone has great tips. I have to move the tongue of the trailer everytime I put my Cougar in the garage so I can have room at the back of the garage to get to my workbench. Just be sure to guide the hydrolic hose and the wiring each time so they dont bind up.
Just pay close attention to the brake line being pulled out from the rear when opening, and fed into the rear when closing, and hte opposite on the wire harness. Be sure you pull it back when opening, and keep it taught ot the front when clsoing. You should be fine if you pay attention. And you obviously figured out to loosen the winch strap first. BCB
Contact [email protected] and they will get you fixed up. Here is the job that BCB does: Judd Lasiter
You can either contact via email or call up to BCB. I had the trailer under my Eyra done last summer. It was a first class job!96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
judd if you dont mind me asking how much did that run you? i am looking at a used sabre, but it doesnt have the swing away, therefore it wont fit straight in my garage, so i was curious as to how much in a roundabout figure i would expect to pay if i bought it. thanks for the reply
That isnt my trailer…just an image that I pilfered from someone with intentions of showing it off to others. I honestly dont know what they charge but Scott or Bobby can get you fixed up with all that information. JL
My buddy has a 07 pII and the hinge on the swing away broke off. he has been having problems with it over the past couple of years and actually has sheared off a couple of bolts. he is not sure what to do any help would be appreciated, thanks
Ya gotta release the tension on the bow strap to relieve the torque on the tongue!
Sorry, yeah I did that.
If it hasnt been used, it will be very tight to move the first time. A little penetrating oil and and a little movement will break it loose. You may have to put a board to it. To get it started. I used PB Blaster. It worked great. You can get it at any walmart or auto parts store. A lot better than WD 40.
Youve done it right. Its probably rusted where the two parts of the trailer come together. Try some oil or something at the contact points and see if it will break free with a little force. Once you get it open, lubricate the contact points really well and you shouldnt have any further problems. Its really easy to use, but yours is probably stuck shut since its never been used. Be careful when closing swing away tongue to be sure you dont pinch any wires that run through the tongue. Good luck. Youll love the swing away feature.
