I have been tinkering with my PIII as far as jackplate setup and trim and all of that sort of stuff trying to see what all I could get out of it. I have been taking it to a certain RPM and then adjusting trim and so on. Now my tach is starting to vary. It will sometimes read 2000 rpm at idle or jump to 6000 rpm when it was at 5000 just a second ago. I am not having any problems with the motor. Can anybody tell me how to check my stator and rectifier. I am an electrician by trade and I think they both are good but I sure would like to check it all with good instructions from someone who has done it on an outboard motor before. I am hoping it is just the tach. Thanks in advance, weeman
