I am lucky and get to leave my boat in the garage. I need to get new tires and had a thought about blocking the axles and taking the tires all off at once so I can then take them to the tire shop and not leave my boat there. Has anyone ever done this? If so, how is the best way to do it? Thanks.

Floor jack and 4 jack stands would be the easiest. 4×4 cribbing if you dont have 4 jack stands.

Why not just tow it to the tire shop and have them do it. Just make sure they use a lug wrench and no impact wrench on tightening the lug nuts. 90 to 100 on torque.Last edited by Bass Cat Boats on February 4th, 2010, 2:40 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Yep, that is the obvious answer. The challenge is I have to go through the yard to get out, and with all the rain/snow we have had, that is not a good option right now. Looks like there is more on the way, so I am not seeing a drying spell. But I plan on leaving for Falcon on 2/20, Lord willing, and everyone is telling me those 10 year old tires should be replaced. The tires look great, kept inside, no cracking, maybe 5000 miles on them, but with my luck, they will not make it if I take the chance!

Jack stands will get ya covered! When theyre swapping out the meats, dont let them forget to balance them also.Advantages are taken, not handed out…

I think BassCat meant Air Impact Wrench. Make them tighten the lugs by hand with a lug wrench and then torque the lugs to 90-100 ft lbs with a torque wrench. If they use an air impact wrench upon installing, there is a good chance that the lugs will be over tightened. If they are over tightened, the lugs can stretch out due to metal stress or heat (brake axle), fail and you will loose a wheel(s), leading to a very bad day.
