Minnkota actually recommends mounting on left side of boat. But I installed mine on driver side without issue. The only thing that I say is mandatory is a battery cut off switch , due to the fact they can and have deployed going down the road. Cut off switch is cheaper than the quick disconnects. Also get the ani theft lock nuts for the bolts.
