Topic: Tank removal to access aerator pump?

The aerator pump is under the gas tank on my 2001 classic. I can turn the top but there is not enough clearance to remove. Do I have to remove the tank to access?

That must be a weird one for Basscat, because I have never seen any other model that you could not access all your pumps. I have owned 4 different models (85 Phelix, 85 Caracal, 91 P2, 01 P3 ) and have been able to access every pump without removing anything. That is why I did not answer this question early this morning when I first saw it, I thought someone may have changed the tank setup.

On my 2000 Sabre I had the same clearance issue. I pulled the cranking battery and box, removed the “cage” for the oil tank. Then pushed the oil tank over towards the center of the boat. Removed the screws in the brackets holding the tank to the boat. I then pushed the gas tank to the corner where the cranking battery was located. This gave me just enough clearance to remove the pump. Hope this helps……….BTW since youre there, I would change all the pumps located under the tank.

They work under Rhe tank blind at BC. Though most prefer the extra time to slide the tank over on the 36 and 27 gallon models.

I can get it loose but there is not enough clearance to lift out of the housing.
