We are very happy to have Terry! He comes to Bass Cat wanting to be here by choice.
This was an emotional decision by both Terry and Bass Cat.
He is a great angler who is only starting to develop nationally, and we look forward to working with him for years to come.

Bass Cat Press Release January 15, 2007
Re: 2007 BASS Elite Anglers
Bass Cat Boats is pleased to announce the addition of Terry Butcher to their 2007 Elite Staff. Terry resides in Talala, Oklahoma with his wife Kandace, and their children Jessie and Josie.
Terry is a recent angler to make the leap to BASS from the regional level where he dominated several events in Oklahoma. His fishing potential on Grand Lake and other Ozark area reservoirs is well respected. His BASS winnings amount to $165,917.00, and a win in the 2005 Sam Rayburn Open event. He earned a total of $202,220. overall, in the main two national organizations. Terry is also a 2002 All American qualifier. While his professional career has been short, it has been a very successful one as well.
The decision was a choice by Terry, as he desired the support of Bass Cat and was sincere in his efforts. That could not go unnoticed as he and Rick met on mutual ground and he was patient in awaiting a final decision from Bass Cat to meet his request.
Here are Terrys comments:
I wanted to be part of the Bass Cat “family.” I could not be more excited with the opportunity to be in a top notch boat with a great company. Not only does Bass Cat have a premier boat they do a great job of promoting their anglers as well. I have noticed over the years Bass Cat has been very supportive of BASS and this made my decision that much easier to make. I am very excited to fish out of my new Bass Cat Puma powered by a Mercury 225 Pro XS this coming season.

And Rick Pierces Comments:
We are glad to have Terry on staff. He comes to us with the potential to compete all across the country and takes a back seat to no one on his fishing ability. He has the tools and skills to be a performer. Terry was very patient as we maneuvered through all of our changes this season, and when he was firm that he wanted to be here and no where else, It was a natural decision.
His patience and desire to be a part of our Family is to be commended. He represents much of what Bass Cat is all about.
The Butchers lives Talala, Oklahoma which is where my maternal grandparents lived their lives, raised their family. It is a wide spot in the road on 169 Highway. My mother (Jan) graduated from Talala High School. They built a drive in restaurant there in the 50s. This is almost like old home week as granddad drug me all over Talala and Double Creek bottoms before the lake took them over. The strip pits, just outside Talala, used to be great fishing in the mid 60s. We had relatives here and there, Dads father was born in Yellville, AR, and they migrated to Oklahoma. So this brings back many memories for us all here.
Terry really strengthens our staff for 2007. We look forward to watching and assisting him in growing his career. He brings a different flair to our staff as does Russ Lane. The 2007 season is going to be very interesting for Bass Cat.

I was fortunate enough to get paired up with Terry at the Red River (Regional) in Shreveport a few years ago when we both qualified 2nd in our respective divisions of the FLW series we were fishing.
Before we ever left the take off, he made a positive impression on me and was super to share the boat with the first day of competion. He let me fish and showed me how to perservere when the bite was slow. There was no doubt in my mind that morning in Louisiana waiting for the locks to open I was sitting in between two future players in professional fishing…Terry Butcher and Ray Scheide
I’ve been glad for him to see him doing well on lakes accross the country and the Rayburn victory was awesome…
Basscat has another valuable link in the chain- Good Luck in 2007 Terry!
