I just got my Puma FTD a few weeks ago, and yesterday was the first chance for some rough stuff- which for once I was actually looking forward to. Had 20mph winds and lots of big boats along with 2 foot chop and whitecaps. Waves going every which way. I cant say enough about this boat- we were dry, were able to stay on top of the chop trimming down a bit but still 35-40 mph with comfort(I had my 6yo boy with me). Anybody that has fished Lake Norman when the big pleasure toys are out can tell you how fun it is. BassCat, you have made yet another loyal fan who now cant consider driving another brand of boat. The ride is amazing!!!
The “shoals” on Norman actually seem to make the waves bigger ! That lake can get rough in a hurry, and rogue waves come from nowhere,,,like you havent seen a boat in 20 minutes and you hit a huge wake from a cruiser, and theres a bunch of them on that lake ! Glad the new Puma did great, and it is amazing how dry you can stay in a Cat ! D.
One of these days Ill know Cat inside and out the way I do Champions. Until then I can say Ive had two 18 Champions. I never thought Id find another boat that rode like the Champs in the rough. I can attest that even the little Cats are right there at the top of the heap in rough water ride, you stay dry, PLUS you get the speed and build quility. I can only imagine how nice a wave cruiser the Puma is and the Jag is going to be!
I had my new Puma Ftd out in some heavy chops today and it did great as well.
I had 40 MPH winds in a tournament Thursday and got a call from a 21 ft Legend driver telling me not to try it…..I really had no problem with the conditions as long as I took my time and run the waves right. I dont want to get in water like that again but I know that the Sabre can handle. Toledo bend was was a bear this weekend also and I was able to get to where ever I needed to…I could not imagine the comfort of the Puma, Couger, or the new Jag. You guy are spoiled….lol Congrates on the new ride. ElwoodElwood…..Bass Cat Proud
I was in a Pro Craft Super Pro 210 yesterday and I swear that was the wettest and worst fishing boat that Ive ever been in! Consider yourself blessed if you run a Cat!
Those procrafts always look so dry when bill dance fishes out of them in a stocked tank…C.O.D. Jr. III
Varied Hulls similar from previous company derived from 482 Ranger hull. Cobra to Viper Later Pro Crafts – and similar built when JS had Hawk from same hull. Hawk to Legend
