Im thinking of getting another Cougar in the very near future. I also considered a new Champion 210, as I was always a Champion guy, but I have a few years on my 06 Cougar FTD, and the customer service of Bass Cat, among other things, is keeping me with the brand. Do I want a Cougar FTD or a Cougar Advantage? I want a fully loaded boat; cost is not a big consideration. I really like the layout of my 06 FTD, and this seems to be how the advantage is set up. However, the new FTD seems to incorporate all the new changes. I like the back deck layout of the advantage, and the older style consoles on the FTD. Is it possible to get a fully loaded new style FTD with the back deck layout still on the advantage? I guess my sticking point is the exposed hinges. Is there a big change in the layout under the lid? Is there a post I can view which shows the differences between the two boats?
the cougar advantage elite is similiar to the o6 cougar ftd with a few new changes but still has the rear deck the same, new console look, new hull, the new cougar ftd is considered the premium package with a lot of extras if you want you can call us and i can tell you more or e-mail us at ] would be happy to explain more.
You do not want to even consider a Champion 210! Ive been in one or two and won another and there are many things that dont even come close to a Bass Cat in my opinon. If you like the old style Cougar FTD, then the Cougar Advantage Elite is the boat you want to consider. However, to answer your question specifically, no you cant get the old style rear deck with the new FTD console or hinges. Dont know why the exposed hinges matter. These serve a function should you have to get in the bilge compartment and do some work. This allows the who compartment lid to be removed.
The console you have in your 06 is what we have in the 08 and newer Cougar FTD. I have an 08 FTD for sale and it is awesome and I honestly believe it to be the best laid out boat in the BCB line, especially if you can do without the net storage. I like the two big boxes on the front deck with lift assisted lids and the big box being in the rear of the boat. I am not sure where you are located but whether you are interested in mine or a new one I would be more than happy to take you out so you can see what the new FTD is all about. It is nothing short of awesome and I am having a tough time deciding what my 09 boat will be…good thing I have to sell my 08 first so I have a little bit of time to make up my mind. I am in the Dallas area if that is anywhere close to you let me know and we can go out in mine. Judd Lasiter 972-333-4387
Hi. Dont take this wrong but is there a reason that you want to go to something other than your 06 Cougar? Is it the motor? I have a 06 Cougar and am happy with it. It might be nice once in a while to go a little faster for thrill (like a 250 hp). But I go around low 70s now and have good hole shot. Probably as fast as I need to go anyway. I was going to look at a 06 Puma and went with new 06 Cougar and I like the layout. I do not need the storage in the back with the large storage boxes in the front. I like that the gas tanks are switchable and I can see them in the back for gas level. Also it is not crowded in the back area for viewing and/or working on items. I usually leave the driver side gas tank a little less and fill the passenger side to equalize out the loading when I am myself. Do the 08 and 09s have something that these dont? Besides being new (and there is nothing wrong with that.) Moose
