Those are disgusting and the numbers are very disturbing. Has anyone tried dragging a floating gill net behind there boat to bring in thousands at a time? Then open an organic fertilizer company! Something needs to be done to start a massive harvest of these fish, unless there are other ways to eradicate them.
They are thick on the mississippi river from tunica south. There have been quite a few black eyes and broken noises over the past few years. Am not saying it is or isnt fun, but have heard rumor that trap shooting flying fish is something that needs to be experienced.
They are the nastiest creatures ever! I was riding shotgun with a buddy of mine in a Ranger last year going about 45 mph down Chicot when one jumped up and hit the trolling motor. The damn thing expoded!! Blood and guts everywhere and guess who got the brunt end of it?? Yours truly!! We run from Tunica to Greenville to Pendleton and they are everywhere now. Its sad. I can tell you I saw tons of them floating dead down here this winter. Dont know if it was because of the cold weather or what exactly but we saw way more than normal floating dead.
Asian carp have ruined the rivers up here. Can’t take young kids out anymore. So sad.The folks on the IL river around Bath have a contest every year to try to thin the population.Broke noses, black eyes, and an occasional tooth knocked out.
I actually fish out of the Helena and mellwood area. During duck season out of the habor in the shallow water they were floating a lot of them. Was ever so glad to see them dead

Been fishing Mellwood since I was 5 yrs old and its still my favorite Oxbow. Its right across the river from us (Desoto) and we still spend a lot of time there. Give me a call sometime and we can meet up or if you see a grey Puma with a white top stop and talk.
