Folks, today we burried another police officer here in Texas. Shane Detwiler was killed after he responded to a call where a worker from the water department tried to turn off water to a house and was fired at by one of the homeowners. Deputy Detwiler arrived a short time later and was shot and killed by one of the owners of the home. He was shot twice in the head and once in his vest. The suspect was an ex-police officer. The suspect killed himself like the coward he was and never gave the responding officers the satisfaction of being able to tell Deputy Detwilers widow that they got a little pay back (sorry if that offends any of you but thats just the way it is). Deputy Detwiler worked for the Chambers County Sheriffs Dept and was formerly a Texas Game Warden. He had a wife and three very young children. Two of those kids are so young that they will never remmeber their father. So many service men and women put their lives on the line for our freedom everyday overseas. I appreciate that and I always pick up their checks when I see them in uniform in a restaurant im eating in. Its my way of saying thanks to them. I think it sometimes gets lost that there are people at home putting their lives on the line for others too. Please say a prayer for this young Deputys family tonight as well as the soldiers that keep up the good fight. Godspeed Shane….
