tilt steering on my puma

has anyone ever had a problem with the tilt steering wheel feature??? Mine just broke loose and will ony stay locked in the up position. Can this be fixed reasonably???

Its usually not that unreasonable and what Year is the model? We has used this feature for now 25 years.

I have a 2006 Puma. The unit is a seastar HH5290 2.0cubic inch sport tilt.

(If its like mine) Have you pulled back the rubber boot and looked for loose or broken parts?

Yes I have pulled the rubber boot back and I can see one of the aluminum notches is broken.

I think that helm parts are available and reasonable. I did a quick Google search for “Seastar Tilting Helm parts” and get to a slew of sites.On the first site I went to I found the entire tilt mechanism for just over $100.

Thanks for the feed back. I will call the supplkier to make sure I get the right parts.
