I have been thinking about getting out of the boat for a while; yesterday settled it. I was out with my fishing partner (a boarder collie) and as I was pulling in to the boat slip; I lost my balance and fell on him., I bruised my hip but dislocated his. We will know tomorrow what the fix is. We will probable go for a hip replacement for him. At age 70, my base has become too unstable to be walking about on anything less than an aircraft carrier. I will be selling my 2007 Pantera IV with 200 OptiMax. Engine has around 100 hours on it. Full electronic package, Lowrance HDS-8 in the dash, Lowrance Elite 7 on the nose with MG Tour 81. Boat is as clean as a new one (or it will be after I get it cleaned up). I will probably take it to Tommy and let him clean it up and peddle it; He can do it faster than me. Visit the Owners page for a peak of what it looks like.If you want an advance look, PM me.It has been fun and I will miss it.jw
JW – sorry to hear about your experience yesterday. I hope your boarder collie turns out ok and your hip heals. You may want to look at the caracal if you plan on getting that aircraft carrier you mention. Otherwise put a tackle bag together and go as a coangler with friends. You shouldnt have any trouble selling your PIV for it is a sweet rig. All the best – Richard
jwthomas,We hate to see anyone just age out at 70, thats just too early for anyone to age out of the boat scene without health issues. 75-80 we understand requiring a friend to go with you, earlier make adjustments. Lets liken it to quitting Golf at 70 and that would be excruciating, not because we like golf that much… Because a stumble there is not a life threatening experience in most cases, though hitting a head on a golf cart is no different than hitting it in a boat. Every trip up in your future could be an end of life experience. More so as you age the next 10 or 20 years. Learn to live with thought in each Step you make, adjust ow you enter and exit the boat. Make a grab post on your docks, handrails or overhead trolley of a grab bar on a cable with pulley system. Something to make you feel more stable or stabilize you if needed.Lastly if you havent… start now, start now on physical therapy or senior agility, start now on heathier life style. Cut the carbs if your weight challeneged as type 2 diabetes will enter your lfife giving you more. Start now to exercise, walk daily, get into an organized senior program. Its you life, or not, and most just dont get active enough as they age. Rick

LOL!! Last week Dad and I reroofed a house in 2 1/2 days (30 squares). We carried every bundle up a ladder (a lift wasnt available) we both used to be faster but that is not bad for a couple of Ol Farts. I am 61. Dads Dr. told him to stay active. He said his senior patients worst enemy is their recliner. I just hope I can continue to keep up with him. I have a Great uncle in Mountain Home that is 101. When Grand Dad was 93 I told him he was getting old and he said it beats the alternative. He helped me frame my house I am currently living in when he was 83.Dan
Years ago, when I was working in the industry, a customer came in with a one year old Jaguar that we had sold him. He told us to sell it for him because his doctor said it was not good for his heart. We suggested he change doctors!I have a fishing buddy who is in his mid-seventies so I know what you are going through. Its tough to realize that you (and I am close behind) are no longer as agile as you once were. When my time comes, I hope to step down to a center console-style boat for my own safety.Good luck with your hip, the dogs hip, and the changes that the future holds.
Thank you all for the kind words of support. As Rick mentioned; I have a lot of those challenges; including no cartledge in either knee, lower back problems, type 2 diabedes; most all caused by my oversize belly. No excuses for how I live, no one to fuss at but me. The bottom line was when I fell and injured my best friend and seeing the look on his face as he is not understanding why he is hurting. I have kind of lost interest in fishing and will transition into a run-about kind of boat. I will probably buy a small tin boat when the urge strikes.By the way; have a look at the BC owners pictures and PM me if interested ($25K) – a bargain price you will agree.thanksjwt
You could always shift over to a Yar-Craft and we may have be coming out to fit your needs.
Can you link us to the pictures. I want to see. And where are you from? Posted via TapaTalk for iPhone613 PIV w/ 200 MercIG: WarriorRiverCustomRods
