Ladies and Gentlemen,Let me tell you about a little problem that blossomed to a big one. Decided to replace my 2001 Basscat Trailer UFP A-60 Actuator because the solenoid stopped working, and safety cable broke. The front pin came off easy. The rear pin rusted in and would not budge. I had to use the first pin by placing it on the second and pound it out with a sledge hammer. The metal washers and piston rusted to the pin. When i got enough to stick out, used a grinder to cut some of it off and pound it back in the other way. The other end of the pin had mushroomed out and would not pass all the way thru. Finally got it back thru and out, 1.5 hr job. The A-60 was installed, went back to the brakes UFP DB-42s to loosen the bleeder valve and stripped it with a box wrench, then took vice grips and would not budge. Ended up buying brand new 2-DB-42s.As a precaution, you should at least loosen the pins and your bleeder valves 1-2 times a year so you dont get into the problems I did. With the new actuator and brakes, it takes about 5lb of pressure to make the brakes grab, the front pin of the actuator slides back about half way in its hole. What a difference over the old unit.Any questions., Ask away.
