The guys are showing up and Im getting excited. Ill be a marshal again this year and still hope to get paired with one of the BCB guys. I saw Britt Myers working on tackle and Ike driving through the big city of Many. . Kota is camping near my sisters house. Saw a lot of the guys stopping for gas at Toledo Town and Tackle….maybe picking up a few last minute lures? If the EverStart this weekend was any indication, there should be some big sacks seen. There was a 13-4 caught the first day of the EverStart and quite a few limits over 20 pounds with one reaching 26-10. Last year the Elites were here in April so they found the fish at the end of the spawn and beginning of post spawn, and the lake was at a near record low. This year the lake is pretty much normal…..more than 6 feet higher than last year. We had a rain last Thursday but not really enough to dirty up the water so the lake should be good no matter where they decide to fish. Last year the wind was the big story. It blew 25-30 the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th days. This year we will probably be begging for a breeze to keep us cool. Just cant win. Just like last year, I will post some pics and tell a little bit about how it goes. i enjoyed the updates last year. gonna be a hot one this year. last year it was jerkbaits….what pattern do you think will win it this year?
Of course they predict some early top water action (probably a frog bite) to be had, but Im sure there will be a lot of dropping jigs on the edges and in the grass. Im really expecting some deep cranking…..my favorite. Hopefully no long-lining. hahahaha. If you can find a place to long line in Toledo it would have to be along the side of Pendleton Bridge. hahaha. Im still getting bit on a frog all during the day but Im sure the numbers of bigger fish will be caught deep. We shall see.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Man Toledo thats way cool. Wish I had the time to Marshal once. I would love to ride with them for a few days. Oh well some day…… Keep us posted.
Saw Ike fishing in 6 mile South Bank, looked like he was fishing crankbait and shakeyhead worm. Area where he was fishing I mostly have found a bunch of Kentucky Bass during day, but some good large Mouth at night, didnt see him put any in boat, but could tell he had several bites.
rumor has it a few monsters were caught in the bugg island area (tx side south of bridge) on monday. one topped ten pounds, two more over 7lb. of course…i aint seen no pics yet, and we ALL know about FISH STORIES!
I figure Six Mile and Housen will get a good bit of attention, but Im betting a good sized group of guys will be running north.Cajun…..I would not doubt that one bit. That was an extremely popular area during the McDonalds tournament. I was going to try it but didnt want to join the crowd.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Look forward to your reports!
like you said, summer pattern at full pool, where last year was spring patterns well below pool. got a feeling theres gonna be a lot more spectators this time around.
Yeah, Im sure a lot more people will be willing to run around following them since the lake is safer. There is also a Bass-n-Bucks tourney on Sunday. Im sure at least a few of those guys will let the Elites do their scouting for them and try to catch their leftovers. Might seem like a safe bet but I imagine after being beat on for 3 or 4 days the fish the Elite guys find will be a bit skittish. I hope nobody is disrespectful enough to sit on their holes during the tournament. There are very few secrets, if any, even on a lake as big as Toledo Bend, and I know nobody owns a spot, but that also means that you can find somewhere else to fish until the tournament is over.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
Bassmaster stageTrip Weldon and Dave MercerCasey Ashley, BassCat pro Kevin Ledoux, and Brent Chapman all were at the weigh-in early because they were afraid their fish might die. There were some fish lost from the heat.Heres Casey with a nice one.Heres BassCat pro Kevin Ledoux. He had a good sack that got him in the top 50.Heres tournament leader and eventual winner Brent Chapman.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console

Thanks for the play by play and the pics! Great job! I drove Herrens boat a cpl months ago on Lay Lake…LOL
I didnt get to make any runs behind the wheel….against the rules unless an emergency…but I did get to load and unload both Matts and Chris Skeeter/Yamaha SHO combos. Ill keep my Cat but those SHOs sure are sweet.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
