Heading to Toledo Bend this weekend for 3-4 days. Anyone willing to share where to go, what to throw, etc., as I have not been there in 1.5 years. Any help appreciated.
Get back in cove with grass and throw a chatterbait. Dont give up on it.
Go to the back of Palo Gaucho but dont go under the bridge. Stay on the south side. The water will be muddy with all the rain, it will almost look red. Throw 3/8 oz. spinner-bait/crank-bait/black neon tube. Make sure you fish every point, first and secondary. Let me know how you do, they should be there.
Joe Joslin gives a very good and detailed report on http://www.toledo-bend.com. At the top of the page roll your cursor over “Toledo Bend Lake” and on the drop down menu pick the “Fishing Reports”. Joe fishes the south end of the lake primarily and updates frequently. There are other reports but a couple are from back in January. I had heard that during a couple of our warm spells, there were some being caught on spinnerbaits. I like shallow water myself and even with the rain, cold, and dingy water I know there are some shallow. Just have to put your head down and give them a shot. Like bass1958 said, I throw chatterbaits a lot and also shallow crankbaits. If nothing happens with that I guess youll have to slow down with a jig or move out deeper with a Carolina rig and/or jig on some points or creek bends. Wish I could help a lot more but I havent been able to get on the water much. Good luck to you and Id love to hear how you do.Jim EbarbToledo Bend Lake, LAJim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console

especially midlake.got another cold front coming, too.
Hey, cajun. It just finished dropping another 3/4 inch of rain on us this evening. Its supposed to be clear tomorrow with winds NNW near 20mph and high temp around 45. We are pedicted for 5 nights below freezing. The water temp will be dropping again. The last time I was on the water was last month during one of the little warm spells. At the mouth of Patroon I was finding water in the low to mid 50s in the afternoon.Jim EbarbMany, LA (Toledo Bend Lake)2004 Cougar/ 225 OptimaxHumminbird Helix 12 Chirp SI on BalzOut Mount at bowLowrance HDS 7 at bowHumminbird Helix 12 Mega SI on Ram Mount at ConsoleLowrance HDS 8 in dash at console
