I was originally going to buy a Cougar FTD but I have decided to take a look at the pantera line. I am interested in the p2 my only concern is the fuel capacity my sabre is a great fishing platform with a nothing but buisiness hull but it only holds twenty gallons. I like the pant 2 lay out and like the fact that it hauls because of the time managment thing but what about the fuel economy. I am big in tournament fishing and most of my fishing is pre fishing for tournaments and next year I am going to be on much bigger water than Caney or Darbohnne. Thanks
My Sabre FTD holds 33 or 34 gallons??? I cant recall because I rarely fill it up. With 60 hours showing on the SC gage the 175 ProXS is registering an average of 5.3 MPG. I could see the PII/DFI combo being VERY close to that plus you get the extra seating area vs the Sabre FTD and the speed that comes along with the big block 200. I am THRILLED with my Sabre FTD but if I had room in the garage Id own the PII, its about the perfect boat for most anglers IMO.
Depends on what lakes you plan to fish and how far you plan to run in a day. 33 gallons in a P2 will get you over 100 miles in one day! Bigger boat for bigger water if tournament fishing. Its as easy as that in my opinion as long as your are a little flexible with funds.
My boat does not have ninja guages like the new ones just the ole tack style. But everytime i go to fill up when it is on empty i can only put any where from 22 to 26 gallons also what kind of price can i expect to see on a pantera 2 with a tandem axle and 200 hp.
mid 30s +. Depends greatly on optional equipment. Youll probably qualify for loyalty discounts and if purchased now another point or two could be had.
Thanks I am checking prices with different options. if i have found one but it only has a single axle trailer can the dealer upgrade the trailer to a tandem axle trailer that is the only thing missing on the rig i have located?
I would advise you to contact your dealer about the Loyalty Program for bass cat boat upgrades. I dont want to mention prices but its worth evaluating the PIV. The price I got was incredible. I think you can get a PIV for the same model price range as a PII. I was looking at the PII but my dealer reminded me of the PIV Loyalty program opportunities. Something to consider. I absolutely love my PIV. Its a PUMA JR that is garage friendly. Its the same length as a PII and is only one Inch wider on the trailer but is much bigger deck to fish out of. IF you need any performance specs I can share with you. Just send me a PM if you have any interest. Good luck on your boat search. Flyswatter
adding an axle is not as easy as it sounds and is probably not an option. a tandem axle trailer I would guess adds about 750-1000 to the price.
Flyswatter, Your P4 is a longer boat than a P2 and the bow is wider further forwards.
Scott, I have a friend that has a PII with a 200 HP Merc. Matter fact its setting at my house now. Its one fine rig. Ive been all over it, inside and out. His has the optional tank that holds an extra ten gallons. Hes never needed it on any trips so far. It runs low 70s loaded…… and I mean loaded….. Im positive I can get you a ride and drive if you want. I truly believe it would perform well in any manner you wish. Phil is right about August being the time to get your best deal. I ordered mine this month just for that reason. Good luck with your decision. Glynn
