Tow Chain Suggestions

Hey all. I bought a new toy hauler, a 2016 Chevy 3500HD dully with a class V hitch. I use my reducer for my ball mount, but the safety chain hooks are too small/narrow to clamp onto the holes on the hitch. I like the clean look of the black wrapped cables currently on the boat, so I would love something similar.Suggestions and or links to options please

Home Depot should have those in Stainless Steel also. The new Cable Chains will be longer as you often will need more length for newer vehicles.

Thanks. So I will need new chains as well? I guess since I have to go to chains, would it be worth getting the class IV chains rated at 10K to 20K? I saw some online at a trailer company with the clips like I currently have. But since it is online, I cannot tell if the hooks will be big enough, or too big….If I have to go to those clamps here, I will, but I like the convenience of the clip type….http://www.reeseprod.com/products/trail … qWHuDG5fcIThanks

Try hooking the hooks from the sides of the hitch,if yours is similar to mine they wont fit going through the rear holes but will if you cone in from the sides.

I drive a tacoma, and I used to have to fiddle with the hooks to get em to snap closed. But after doing it a couple of times, it becomes very simple, once learned. I dont like the screw-in type. Had to use those for a few years. Slows down hooking and unhooking and they can sometimes get testy trying to unscrew them.2008 Pantera Classic2014 Mercury Pro XS 200

I will leave the screw on links mounted to the truck, and just hook the cables to them when I tow the boat.

Thanks everyone. Yeah, I have tried sides and rear, hooks are just too narrow. I will go to Home Depot and get stainless chain and screw connector. Too much over thinking…..

Basscatdreams,I am not sure if I saw this post to late. I had a problem hooking up the tow chains on my 2011 Puma FTD to my 2010 Toyota Tundra. The hooks would not fit thru the tow hitch I got 2 shackles put lock tight on them and I have been using them for years .
