I have a bearing on the back wheel that I noticed some grease leaking down the wheel after loading the boat. Took it to a shop and appeared to only be a little factory grease that was left inside the blue part of the bearing by the insert. (Almost looked like when you grease an insert and dont wipe them off). They put a little grease back in the bearing and it moved the blue indicator out slightly. Today i decided to have the tires rotated and check the rest of the bearings. When they pulled that same wheel off the inside of the bearing by the insert was FULL of grease, like it is leaking it to the outside and the blue indicator was all the way back in where it was before the grease was added (500 miles ago). Anyone have this happen? Time for another bearing? Thanks
Call the parts department at Bass Cat. They will sell you a hub with the bearing already packed and ready to go. Pretty reasonable price also. Take Care and Good Luck Joey
The part numbers were over on the FAQ section of this Owners Board.
You can find more information in the FAQ section though BCB does not ever suggest you use a grease gun on the bearings. BCB Admin.http://basscatowners.yuku…ssCat-FAQ-Archive?page=1
Well crap, I guess I screwed that up…………thanks for the info
You should visit the FAQ section and read the comments BCB put there on bearings, seals and greasing the units.
Will do, guess Im a little flustered trying to get the “bugs” out of a boat that is new to me. Thanks
Since its new to you and then you to it, you should do a little light reading in the FAQ section to get up to speed.
Hey outlaw, BCB is right. Im a new to me Bass Cat owner too (year and a half) and Im still learning. Use the search feature once in the FAQ area or in this one. Type in your topic and chances are several threads will come up to help with your questions. Ive found this method very informative. Some things you might want to print out (live well operation for example). At least I did and found it helpful. The bearing grease maintenance is different then other boats. Basically, leave it the hell alone unless the bearings are hot. If you tow a lot, clean and repack every so many (3-5) years. NEVER use a grease gun. Another search feature is on top for your model. Or in FAQ section or this forum just put in the year/model of your boat. I did early on and got answers to questions I hadnt even though of yet!Good luck and enjoy.
why cant you use a grease gun in these bearings what makes them differnt. outlaw good luck on fiquring out the cat im a new basscat owner too and im learning something new everyday
The bearings are not different, BCB just approaches things differently and the end results are less problems. Those who frequent this board will support that we have very few bearing issues by comparison and have not suggested using a grease gun for about 30 years. The results are proven in our methods and we suggest you follow them. Most bass boat companies do not have the long term knowledge of how things are impacted over time. Their actual knowledge is more based on personal experience and not bulk experience. Then many other companies dont even build their own trailers and dont then handle their service of that trailer. There is a difference in companies, their knowledge and approach. Ours is from that 40 years of heritage that gives you as a Bass Cat owner access to a depth of knowledge most other companies do not have. Most here will tell you that our direction is usually spot on to reduce problems for you in your leisure. Its supposed to be fun and time away from work!Last edited by Bass Cat Boats on September 26th, 2011, 12:20 pm, edited 1 time in total.
That last response is why we love BCB!!! When people ask why we are so strong in our conviction for our Bass Cat Boats I direct them to the Owners board. Tell them to spend a few days observing then try to do that with any other company. And, this service and knowledge is on top of having a superior product for us to enjoy as well.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.Chris CoupelPaulina, La.
