Trailer bow support cracked

Trailer is a 2016 for a PII.

Should I take this to my dealer for repair or find a local welder? I believe its just the weld letting go, as nothing is bent.

Other than the repaint. I would take it to a good welder!. These are non fused welds. Personally im surprised we dont see more of these. That area takes a true beating. That area needs all the old weld remove by way of grinding, flame cut ,or arc gouging. Though my choice would be grinding. Which is less heat. Pesonally i would recommend a 7018 for the reweld over a wire welding process

Redngoo is correct. This will happen from time to time if the welder doesn’t have his temp and speed set correctly on a MIG machine. I.P. Incomplete penetration, cold lap, slag inclusion can all occur during the welding process. I’m 100% confident BCB will take care of this for you.

All the things you mention is correct. Though these things can happen in any welding process. My reasoning is more about the elongation of the molecules of filler material. 7018 we will say has more “elasticity” and less brittle.

I agree with a 7018 cap but I would go with a 6010 root/hot pass also. Give me a grinder, I’ll fit it up, you weld it. Lol

Yep, with pictures we will most likely cover it. Welding shop and paint shop work.

They will want pictures and verification on registration.
