Trailer brakes locking up when backing

So,what everyone is saying is that the bass cat trailers have trailer brakes and you must have your receptacle plugged in to your truck to unlock brakes to back up trailer??

Absolutely. Otherwise use the reverse brake lock-out pin to prevent activation while backing up. But don’t forget to remove it or you will have no brakes while driving normally.

90% of the ones I have looked at have been wiring problems. Bad ground, particularly between solenoid and ground. They are often grounded through the actuator inner member and that is not a very good ground once things get dirty/greasy…

Should be fine on an upsloped driveway as long as your connections are all good.  The blue wire activates the solenoid to disengage the brake lockout. My driveway is slanted up.  The only problem is that when backing up like that, the actuator gets compressed and it is hard to unhook the trailer. To remedy that, I put a brake release in before I back it up.  This one is magnetized and stays attached to my trailer when not in use.  Very handy for me.
