trailer bunk question

Replacing bunks on trailer on 1998 Jaguar should I use lag bolts or drill all the way through bunk and use carriage bolt or will the hull test on top of bolt ?

Obviously lag bolts have lasted 17+ years so in 2032 or 2033 you might have to worry about them again if you use SS lag bolts again. No doubt carriage bolts would be better though they also would be a lot more work.

Someone used carriage bolts to “repair” a problem on my trailer. Now I have a slight groove in the bottom of the boat and gel coat on the bolt every time I launch. I will be making new bunks and using SS lag bolts to avoid any such issues in the future.
