Trailer hub caps

Ok Im my way back from Lake Guntersville, (which was totalally awesome except for having to buy a new series 31 battery and the following issue) I noticed the the back axle of my trailer was missing the center caps. Some grease was on the wheels and no sign of the center caps? Anyone have a clue what could have happened and are the bearings bad on both sides? I have a 2007 Dual axle trailer….

No center caps on the wheels, and no bearing buddies ? Or just center caps off wheels ? If center caps are gone off wheels someone must have used them as a step, if all are gone,,,,no clue ! I thought you had to remove the wheels to get center caps off,,,,,,,,,,

Yes, that is a little vague on the description as there are wheel centers, bearing buddy bras and the bearing buddy itself on that year model. BCB

ok let me clarify….. sorry about that. the center cap that says Ultra…Round plastic chrome peice… The are gone.. Not used as steps, They came off somewhere between Guntersville and Cleveland TN. I just replaced one on the left side about 2 weeks ago. I am just wondering what may be causing this. The last one I found near my road busted up near a large pothole. The grease is not real bad on the wheels, I am just wondering what might be causing this. Also the hub caps? Can I get them through BassCat?

All of the caps on my 09 Cougar trailer are cracked. BCB did send me replacements some time ago…I just havent been able to get them changed out. I was told by parts that the caps are a bit too short, and when the wheel is tightened down the center hub rubs the end of the cap, causing them to crack. I dont know if that is the case with your model year though. Mine havent broken up and fallen out however.

The center caps must be inserted from the rear of the wheel requiring removal. They were debated on whether to leave off or install with the hole cut, once it was learned they were too short. Thus the holes were cut to keep some appeal.

ok so is the grease on the wheel ok or would it indicate a problem? Also do you all carry those? I looked for them on the sight and I cant find them. I am just curious if I need bearings too? thanks

Trpcollier, We think that your speaking of the Bearing Buddy cap. The outside cap with a grease zerk is the one you think your speaking of and we have those in stock. Yes if you lost that the entire hub must be broken down and there could be an issue in the bearings that caused this to come off.
