Trailer Issue…Need Help Quick

BCB….if anyone is around today (Saturday), can you please call me. We replaced the break line on the jag trailer and for some reason I am getting a high pitch squeeking. I went to pick up the boat this morning and it felt like the trailer brakes were engaged. The wheels werent locked, but I can smell something burning and the wheels are HOT. I have a tourney on Sunday and was wondering if there is a way to disengage the brakes or if you have any ideas on how to fix the issue I am all ears. yea…its very weird. I checked under the trailer and everything looks normal. For some reason after the wheels warm up my brakes are engaging and I am getting a squeeling sound. Mike, The newer brakes do have a squeal on some trailers when they are just rolling around. It should not be there at over a parking lot idle speed. The temperatures are hard to estimate, as that trailer has both wheels that are brakes axles and thus both hubs will hold heat. The cable looks right and the clasp is in place. We are not thinking you have an issue, though we do understand how you would have concerns. BCB

Thanks for the reply. The brakes are squeeling (loud) at speed and I can tell they are engaged by the way my vehicle is pulling. There is a pressure release tab under the front coupler. If you pulled the cable inadvertently the pressure release might let the master cylinder let go. You may have pulled the cable, though not broken the small cable tab. The release is a simple depressing detent button on the underside of the coupler. BCB

That was the first thing I did. Pulled the boat this AM for about 40 mins to the launch. High pitch squealing at speed (seems like after pads warm up). Wheels were very hot to the touch at launch and still had burning rubber smell (like pads burning). On the way home, we experienced the same problem, but squeling was intermittent. Wheels were very hot and rims were black from the pad dust. There was a faint burning smell, but not as bad as in the AM and yesterday. I checked the fluid in the cylinder yesterday and it was low (refilled it). The cylinder was full last week after the new brake lines were installed. I have owned several boats with dual axle brakes, so I am familar with how they work. He would be best to ask. Though we know they have been working on the squealing at parking lot speeds. Dont know about what your explaining. This ones new to us.
