So I feel like an idiot for asking this but what I’ve done hasn’t worked. First of all I have a 2018 Eyra. When closing my swing away tongue I pinched one of the wires – looks like a 22 gauge wire (red). The running lights went out but everything else worked. Since there wasn’t enough slack to reconnect the ends of the wire directly I added a short piece of 20 gauge copper doorbell wire since that is what I had on hand. The running lights still don’t work. The ground appears fine as do all other wires. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.
Probably 16 gauge. If you connected your tow vehicle before you repaired the pinch, I would suspect you blew a fuse. The other thing is the solid strand 20 isn’t as durable as the multi strand 16. I would replace it.
Yes, check the fuses on your vehicle. Also individually check the lights operation with a voltmeter (ohms) or a small 9 volt battery works well also. You can tape wires to the posts and power up the trailer pins individually, then check operation.
So a blown fuse was part of the problem, thanks. Replaced it and got lights back – except the left side. As the pic above shows I only have half the light functioning. Same thing when brakes or left turn signal are applied. All other fuses look fine. Any thoughts?
