Last week our weather warmed very fast for a couple of days and in my shop everything was dripping wet from sweat..the next day a hard freeze set in for a few days and now there is a foggy white haze that covers every part of my trailers paint.. The trailer is black and has a gator Hyde coating and is a 2012 model for a cougar ftd. I know this sounds strange and I can tell you it looks even stranger. It looks as if its between the clear and the paint. Just wondering if anyone has had this happen..Im gonna run it by a local dealer and get his take on it. Thanks for any ideas.
That is crazy?? The only thing I could think of or even find on a search was that it was clear coated in not so warm temp, but with basscat, I dont see that. Are you original owner? Had the trailer been reprinted by someone? You are definitely doing right by taking to your dealer. Basscat will need your Serial when you call them.
Quite possible for GatorHyde to become cloudy as it is a urethane product. They will weather some with age and the amount depends on the amount of UV it is exposed to. Go ahead and get the dealership to send pics to service and they will take a looksee at the issue.
I have the exact same issue with my trailer and it happened with in two trips. I do not think it is from the UV. Mine happened after fishing in the rain and once the trailer dried it turned milky. I do not know what I am going to do. I am in contact with BCB on mine and trying to figure something out they have been great so far. I really think moisture has seeped through the gatorhyde. But I do not know.
This is a timely post and I was going to get around to posting a similar inquiry…I was on a trip down in late Nov around the time of the Brazil tourney fishing on Norfork and BSL…the 3-4 days prior to it getting really cold, out of no where these spots started showing up all over the trailer frame rails…same thing, cloudy spotches on the one warmer day when it rained. Im kind of bummed as my boat is babied, stored indoors/heated garage and I wipe my boat down after every trip including the trailer and prob have spent more time doing this than fishing out of it…Anyway here are some pictures of what mine is looking like…2012 P2…BCB, pls. keep us posted if there is any followup that can be done on this…Thanks.

Totally unnecessary 007. .Those look like hard water spots, but BCB has the best idea, get them to your dealer so they can inspect and communicate with BCB. Let them do their job.
Not sure what that is, though it doesnt look like urethane UV damage. BCB

They are not hard water spots, but Im open to suggestions on how to try to remove. Im with BC Cowboy, somehow the moisture has made it through the Gatorhyde…the day they appeared I tried to wipe them down with my wet chamois but no dice. In my first picture you can see it also appeared on the side of the rail, though not in spots, rather just a couple of sections with the same cloud-like appearance….

Noticed them halfway through the summer. Had no clue what they were, but kind of disturbing as I also baby mine and with such a new boat.
Having a few of Cowboys pics in our Service file PC his urethane is similar to UV clouding. These are not UV clouding that we have seen. These are spotting and we are still requesting you to visit your dealership and we will have to research what caused these. We have not seen similar clouding on the trailer finish.
I also have the spotting. I just took pictures of what I felt was the worst area and sent to Bass Cat. I did not send photos as the ones below as the haze on the side of the trailer is worse in terms of looks. My trailer has the spotting on top as the pictures above and the cloudy haze on the sides of the trailer. I assure you mine is a match to the above post. Here are pictures I just took. Walked out turned lights on and took them. I do not think this is a UV issue. I could take 100 pictures. Im now in contact with Gatorhyde and the are investigating for me as well. They are curious as well and some how moister is seeping through the Gatorhyde. Im now doing an experiment find the culprit. I will keep you guys informed. I hope they figure out what causes this if there is something owners can avoid to prevent it.Dan

BssCatCowboy and BCB, please keep us posted as to the results of your research. My boat is away off-site in storage until the spring, and thus pics are not available. Thanks.
