Ok guys,I need help and am not posting to bash but I recently purchased a 99 pantera III and the serial on the trailer is un-readable so CA DMV will not register it. I called Basscat on the 12th and was told the lady was at lunch and would call me back. on the 14th I called again and I gave a lady the hull serial and she pulled up the information. I told her the serial for the trailer from the original registration, she said it did not match but they would figure it out and would call me back as the lady who handles it was out. now its the 22nd and still NO call, I am patient and am sure they are busy but how long do I have to wait? ready to go fishing…. David 760-207-6533Hull serial: BASE1183C999 Trailer serial: 458BC222751008742Thanks in advance!!!!!!
Theyre on it!
thanks, I knew I bought from a reliable company!!! i should note the trailer serial in my original post is what is on the FL trailer registration sheet since the boat came from Florida.you guys are the BEST!!!! Last edited by socalpIII on January 11th, 2012, 10:51 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Yeah ! And the Ca DMV is probably the worst . Good luck your gona need it .
SocalIIII so feel your pain! I bought my 2011 PII from Sherm and picked it up at the plant, then it was the CA DMV. First they want there sales tax not a question of anything else. Then the guy at the counter looks up at me and asks for a “smog certificate”. First I had to tell him we dont smog boats “yet” and I ask what does this certificate look like no one Had a clue. I then called Sherm to ask him if he knew anything ( I could just see him scratching his head laughing) He never heard of such a thing. And Nor had the local Ranger dealer. I then go home and go threw the paperwork packet and take back the cheesy card that is usually checked off indicating if the motor has a one star, two star etc, rating. I check off the two star and wait again for an hour in line. Again waiting for this card to go up the chain of command, someone comes back and tells me “this is it” and asks, “can er make copies of it so everyone knows” I give her the card thinking Im finally done. WRONG! Then the wing nut tells me I need to bring the trailer in for an inspection (I will refrain from using a quote) I ask and where shall I park the boat and trailer when I bring it back. He says dont bring the boat, just the trailer. I again go home hook up the boat and bring it back. It was only threw years of trailering expierance that I got threw the DMV parking lot at 1pm without running over someone. So I park it in the designated parking spot and am told “someone will be right with you” . After an hour I go looking for the someone inspector, and am told the someone is still at lunch. So someone finially comes out and looks at the vin number and says Im good to go. I ask, so wheres the inspection. He says thats it, they just want to look at the vin number. Oh well a whole day at DMV, would have been a great skit for Saturday Night live. From the west coast I wish all a happy and safe holiday season. And never forget those of our brothers and sisters serving all over the world.Steve “Gunz” Molina
DMV made me do the same thing, then they ask for the VIN. i direct them to the back of the boat, they say, no the VIN for the trailer. i told them its on the front on a sticker. its un-readable they say and usually makers will stamp it on the trailer. DMV recommends to take the boat to the CHP so they can go over the trailer and find the VIN. i told them i never heard of a VIN on a trailer just serial number. well we get to the CHP after a 30 min. drive and they are closed for the weekend. my wife is pissed to say the least, she calls DMV and speaks to the lady and tells her for making us go to CHP she should just sign the reg form. DMV says they cant do that, my lady says she wants to talk to a supervisor. it only got worse from there.when i got home I looked up on this forum and found answers but am hoping i can get this done. the weird thing is DMV registered the boat but not the trailer and i have the pink slip for the boat in my hands. not sure if anyone else out there knows but CA DMV parking lots are the worst, especially on a weekend!!!thanks all for the input and knew I was not the only one who has dealt with out of state registration hassles. the smog one is funny though!
Still waiting for a call back from BCB!!!I called CHP and they said they could look for another VIN on the trailer and if they dont find one they can issue me a new one. from what i can make out on the trailer are the following numbers: 458BC2022X1006087 OR 458BE2022X1006387I was hoping for a call back after I posted or from the calls i left, but to no avail. i will say i was hoping for better customer service from a TOP JD power winner.Last edited by socalpIII on January 12th, 2012, 3:52 pm, edited 1 time in total.
