Been in a BCB since 2005. Could use some suggestions from any of the family who has dealt with a wrecked trailer. Kid learning to drive hit my 2006 PIV trailer & boat in April. Claim submitted through his Dad’s insurance company. Been at a BCB dealer since May 5 for an evaluation estimate. Insurance company is telling me trailer is totaled. Not offering anything close to replacement value. Dealer is trying to get replacement part pricing from BCB for a final estimate to possibly put my old trailer back together. I know Covid has the supply chain screwed up in this Country. How long should the process take? Any suggestions from anyone who has been through this nightmare in the past? Not interested in airing grievances on a forum. PM if you prefer. Just looking for help to get back to fishing. Would have been a lot easier if he had hit my tow vehicle. Thanks in advance. Mike.
We are way backed up on trailers with the flurry of use CoVid created, which created more incidents like yours.
We understand not venting on a forum what you’re asking most can not help much. If the trailer can be repaired, then fix it and move on.
You also can have your insurance get involved and relieve you of some frustration perhaps.

Your insured value is what you claim it to be on most boats, I have a 2021 rig, and noticed on my policy they had the trailer priced at 5200, I called back and said it needs to be around 8000. Kinda thinking about doing on my house as well! My friends place burned down 4 months ago and the insured value isnt going to scrape what labor and material costs are at right now on their rebuild! A friend just went though this with his Ranger 188, and couldnt get anything from a dealer or ranger on the trailer. He went aftermarket and that was a bad choice as well. I would wait it out and get a new trailer from bass cat, they are back logged in every area so be patient with them. But it will be worth the wait to have the correct / matching trailer made for it. Maybe you can purchase a trailer though a bcb dealer, and maybe they have a used trailer for another brand of boat laying around that could at least get you on the water? ( pipe dream maybe but I had a dealer locally that actually gave out a used bcb for tournments before so guys wouldnt miss events for repairs)
Thanks for the replies. The problem isn’t with my insurance company. I didn’t file a claim through them. The claim was filed with the at fault driver’s insurance company. I am just hoping to get back on the road without spending too much of my money due to his poor driving. Would be appreciate any insight on that scenario if anyone else has been through it.
Thank you BCB and my local dealer for a return call this morning and providing me with some parts cost to at least start to figure out how to solve the problem.
For a not at fault accident you should try running through your insurance too, see who gives you the best offer. Your rates are not supposed to go up if you are not at fault, you could call to confirm. If they pay for your trailer they will just send the bill to the other guys insurance in the end, it’s called subrogation. Some companies first party treat trailer as a part and pay replacement cost without depreciation. If that was the case, would be no stress on your part, they would just buy a new one.
You have a contract with your insurance company, depending on what type of policy you have, they may cover more than you think.
Good luck, don’t just settle with other guys insurance without knowing all your options.
Thanks- Great suggestion. Had not thought of that. Worth a shot.
Everyone have a nice Memorial Day weekend and a special thanks to all who served.

I know most don’t want to deal with lawyers but when it comes to insurance companies and getting them to pay, especially if it’s someone else fault, they can be well worth the money. Insurance companies love to run Joe blow around the mulberry bush, lawyers tend to put a stop to that nonsense if they got anything on the ball at all. Good luck, don’t envy your headaches dealing with this stuff.
I second what schodackbassman stated. Talk to a lawyer, bring your insurance policy and above all start writing down everything that anyone, (from the other insurance company, your company, your agent, and the marina) state to you. Go through your policy it should break down what your company will pay, and the amounts. I know this all is time consuming, and some like yourself just want to do the right thing. I know this because I went through it with another brand boat that was damaged during a storm on Table Rock. I was without my boat from the 4th of July that year until the end of October, same year. Your agent is supposed to be your advocate, he is to be representing you to the company that you have the policy with. If he/she isn’t doing their job I would say it is time to switch after this has been settled. One last thing, as others have mentioned as well, all of this stuff costs money, and the costs of a trailer, a boat, a motor, electronics, etc. continue to skyrocket. If your not getting direct replacement with at least the same quality as you had prior to the accident, then you are going to take a loss. Good luck with all of this.
I agree with unravels, check your insurance to see if you have “no fault” coverage. If so, you’ve most likely covered it closer in value and your insurance agent can talk through the process. Then they can bill the other insurance . It would still take a while but you would be less out of pocket and as he said, shouldn’t count against you.
