Hey guys I wanted to check and see if anyone has installed a trailer step pole on an old Jaguar. I have a 2000 Jag and was looking to see about getting just the C-shaped plate that goes over winch but it only comes with the pole as a whole unit but i dont think i would have enough space on trailer frame to weld it on (boat is north at cabin so cant go out and measure just have pictures from when i redid my trailer this spring).I have found myself at times when getting in and out of the boat at the ramp having to stretch out a ways to get down to trailer frame and thought this would be a good addition. If you have thought on it let me know maybe its a simple no and thats fine. If someone for some reason has had to replace pole and has an extra bracket they want to sell that might work as well. Maybe a better option might be to stop into a fab shop and have them bend me one up out of 1/4″ plate and put a couple gussets in it if the pole wont fit.
In hindsight I wish I wouldve added that to my 2015 trailer that sits under my 1996 Eyra. It is a custom Cat trailer for a 20 year old boat and I really cant even go fishing by myself now because of my lack of mobility trying to touch any part of the trailer frame to climb out. So even though your trailer is an earlier model I too would be interested in this topic and if its possible…96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner
I called parts last year and was able to purchase all of the raw parts to do my own install. See this post: http://basscatowners.yuku.com/reply/192 … ply-192246
Bought and installed my self on a 2008 Classic. Im 78 and it makes stepping down onto the tongue a snap.
I just moved my dancing pole further up on the trailer. Put an ulterra on the Jag and worried about hitting the pole. You should have plenty of room.
I guess my concern with space would be if I can fit it on frame behind coupler and the hole behind that the brake line comes up through. I have a different coupler than the very informative link above which really cuts down my available space. Ill post a picture that best shows what Im talking about.
I like the concept of the pole. I want to add this feature as well. I like the weld on versus the bolt on. Problem for me is burning the factory paint. I feel the donut ring will give trouble down the road. Im still weighing my option.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
Mine is very unique since basically a custom build. The bow roller arm is almost perpendicular to the frame, not at the usual angle as on other Cat trailers. The winch arm is close to being under the point of the bow.96 Eyra/12 Mercury 175 Pro XS with 2015 single axle trailer2017 Victory Gunner

Painted the pole, step and area of trailer tongue where the pole was welded. Perfect match in color, looks like it came from the factory..
Devore. I talked to Allen awhile back about the raw parts. Me being a welder it will be a simple task. Its just a matter of getting over messing the paint up. I have a friend that does powder coating. I had even thought of that route as well. But I could spray it as well. Here lately it just a matter of finding time.2013 PANTERA 2MERCURY 200 PRO XSMINNKOTA 80LB FORTREX25 fury
