Trailer Swap

Due to the garage parking situation at my previous house I bought my PII with a single axle trailer (90ş corner into garage while constrained in an alley). We decided to build a house last year and I have a nice straight shot to back my boat into the third stall on my garage now. So… for the peace of mind on long road trips (blew a tire on the way to Missippi from Iowa last year) I would like to upgrade to a dual axle trailer once funds allow… what is the best way to do this? Can I add the second axle to my trailer, update the fenders and bingo? Would it be best to find a dual axle trailer and sell my single axle?

I would call Bass Cat and talk with Allan. Either way it will pricey and time consuming. They may be able to re configure your trailer but you would need to get it to them and leave it…that is IF they can do it. Its more or less a work in type of request. If you decide to sell, it would be hard to get an idea of price difference between new Cat trailer and IF you can find someone in the market for a used single axle one. I think you may be able to relocate the single axle, add a second axle, and change out your fenders. Call BCB and they should be able to confirm or deny my theory. Good luck.

Yes you can add a2nd axle,Idid this about 3yrs ago. If you can or have friend that can weld. the cost is not that great. If you have any??? be glad to answer.

Not sure if the frame length would match up with an extra axle, even after relocating yours. BCB could probably advise if you give them a call. Every so often a trailer will show up on the board so keep your eyes peeled. Maybe someone is looking to buy one with a dual axle & are in the opposite position as you. I would also post on the BOATS FOR SALE page & hope for the best. GOOD LUCK

Frame is identical,Axles can be addedCost of fenders, axle and partsWelding will require paint alsoFender support and parts changes. Added axle, wheels and tires. YepExpensive to some degree. Though yes, it can be done. You might visit with them on an old frame option and see if they have one that will exchange. BCB
