After 8 months in my 2011 PII, we are still having a little trouble loading the boat. I have read the posts on correct trailer depth based on ramp angle, etc. BCB has provided others along with a few other owner posts. When loading this boat, it tends to go between the front roller and the soft outer cap of the front roller to the right hand side when loading. In fact the front roller has a groove in it the 1 1/2″ to the right of midline. It has reached the point I am ready to put a mirror in the bed of my truck or the tailgate to make sure it goes on as it should. Again, this does not happen with every trip, but it happens enough at different ramps that I am soliciting others input. Next weekend at the SEBCOG may be the time to seek some input as well.Has anyone else had this issue? Any suggestions would be welcomed. Thanks,Carky
What I do is drive up on the bunks a little and let the boat settle. That should get you straight, then drive the boat up the rest of the way to the front roller. I had some trouble learning how to trailer my BC but after a few times now the mistakes are getting fewer and fewer.
Mine does the same Carky. I havent been able to get it right either.
If the PII is like my Classic the centerline of bottom of boat is offset about 2 inches to the right of topcap center. This could possibly be what is causing the loading problem. I had the same issue the first few times loading as well. I generally line up the right side of trolling motor base with bow roller when loading. Seems to have cured my problem loading. I had some trouble at first as well with my 2011 PII. Like previous posters have said try to find something that you can use as a “landmark” on the boat to get yourself lined up…I have been using the hole on the front deck that the butt seat pole goes into and it has really helped me. Ill be down at SEBCOG as well, look forward to meeting everyone!
YEAH THE FACT THAT THE CENTERLINE OF THE BOAT IS OFF CENTER I DIDNT REALIZE THAT UNTIL I WAS SWIMMING WITH MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER AND WENT AROUND THE FRONT OF THE BOAT AND I HAD BEEN HAVING THE EXACT SAME TROUBLE BUT ONCE I REALIZED WHERE THE CENTER OF THE BOAT WAS I WAS LIKE WELL THAT MAKES SENSE NOW SO YEAH BACK THE TRAILER IN WITH THE SHORT BOARDS BARELY OUT OF THE WATER AND LINE UP THE LEFT SIDE OF THE NOSE AND SHELL LOAD
Thats the only thing I hate about my P2!! I gives me fits to load it on trailer!! It also eats up the front roller.
pri721, I also went through the bow rollers. The last year or so I stopped putting the eye next to the roller. I now stop the eye 2 or 3 inches back from the roller. This has helped. I hope Im not in danger of hurting the boat while in tow.
I use what someone else mentioned above about getting the Classic on the bunks initially and letting her “settle”. Then I just power up and steer to counter the torque and stop with the eye a couple inches from the roller. The entire hull is still past the end of the bunks so I dont see why there would be any issue with hull support. The Fury prop made loading much easier then with the Trophy Plus. I got to look at the nose now, I hadnt noticed the offset.
Carky we can help you find the best way to load it while at SEBCOG. Trust I made my mistakes with my PII but got used to it.
