What would cause the motor to turn and “peel back” my transom saver? Before I buy a new transom saver, I want to try to figure why its doing this. No issues with the hydraulic steering, just hate that my motor turns or moves while traveling. Anyone else ever have this issue?Thanks,JPP.s. The fishing at Falcon is horrible, dont go anytime soon. Some guys from LA were staying next to us, and they left early because of horrible conditions.
YOU MIGHT TRY SOME OF THOSE DETWIELLER CLIPS……IF YOU DO PAINT OVER THAT AWFUL ORANGE..I PAINTED MINE YELLOW…..OH BABY ITS HOT..
The popping is normal on spring axles and the shackles as well as the springs are moving in a tight turn. The shaking is most likely the engine motor mounts which are rubber on the 200 engines. We do suggest a full length transom saver and not the shorty versions. The shorter versions do not prevent motors from moving and bouncing and they add stress to the transom. BCB
If you think hwy. 90, 83, 57 are bad come to Arkansas or Louisiana ! As BCB suggested, GO ! Use the steering clips, and full length transom saver, cinch all down and you should have no worries !btw, i miss going to Uvalde, Eagle Pass, Pearsall, Carrizo, etc,,,,, i used to travel the area extensively for business, and still have many friends down there !
Get these they will fix your problem. http://www.thmarine.com/products/Trailering-Ac … ering-Lock
100% my opinion but I will never again put those steering stoppers on my boats again. My etec on my puma jumped around when towing but no problems with the sheering unit. After 3 years(puma) and 8 years(bayboat) problem free I started using them and in less then 6 months both my boats where full of sheering fluid in the splashwell. took them both in and after they got fix the tec told me that they get the sheering over pumped up and busted the seals. So it will fix the shimmy but might blow your steering.
Not trying to be a negative Nancy but I remember reading recently that those clips can mess up the seals. I thought I had seen that on this board but it could have been another. We rubber strap ours off the rails or cleat. Also we have not seen major damage from the larger blocks to seals. The smaller one without offset clips are the ones that can damage the seals. Any that prevent the clips from contacting inside the cap are fine.
Buddy at work slid a two inch piece of aluminum tube over the transom saver and migged it to the splitting original one, no more problem, cost one pit beef sandwich.

In the end can lead to Hydraulic steering damage. He suggested a thicker rubberize stabilizer clip as an alternative. I found these on Ebay for $17.50: http://www.ebay.com/itm/MOTO-STOPS-NEW- … 0990134860
I had the same issue with damage to my transom saver tubing from the motor turning while trailering. Installed the T & H Marine clips 3 years ago and have had zero issues. No more damage to the transom saver and no issues with my hydraulic steering system.Scott
Need to bookmark this for future reference!
I made my own clips out of pvc pipe . — Just made sure the pipe didnt get to the seal area . — Works great , and only cost me 3 bucks .
