Is it safe to say that a new transducer can be placed on the flat portion in the area of the last drain hole of a 2001 Pantera Classic? Are there stringers that run to the across the boat making the fiberglass thicker for the signal to go thru? The X28 finally gave out, transducer was between the drain holes. Thanks in advance. joe gest

I have a 2005 classic and mounted a new transducer next to where the old one was. I think this is the area you are talking about – if so it has worked fine for me.Jason Ferbrache – Edmond, OK 1995 Basscat Eyra

An approximate 6 x 6 inch rear portion of the pad where the existing transducer is should be the place.

not to ruffle any feathers here but the ones who would have the most information for the optimum placement of any transducer should be the folks who designed and built the craft.There is a “sweet spot ” on every boat unfortunately I havent found a reference guide for my boat yet. went fishing yesterday. saw the replies.BCB I know of the 6×6 pad by the drain plug on bottom of boat. There is a transducer for my Zercom at that location. I should have said deck drain on the floor by the rear seats. The other deck drain is forward by the front storage compartpmentThe lowrance X-28(went out) original transducer is between them. This seems to be the location for placing new transducers and access for us.

On a 2001 All Fiberglass model and later you will have success on a Pantera Classic, and trouble on the full deck models installing an in hull transducer. We have an area reachable on some models and through the floor drains and you should be able to reach the transducer through the front floor drain.
