On a 2007 Puma should the Humminbird 998 transducer be mounted on the rear transom next to the jack plate or underneath down by the drain plug? If down by the drain plug, it looks tight and perhaps in harms way with the trailer upon loading. Thanks!

BCB staff mounts them on the transom underneath the jack plate. Of course BCB also recommends the Transducer Shield Saver for the part, those Knut on the jack plate and require tapping the side ofthe plate we believe.

Can you post a picture of this location on the jackplate frame. I like the sound of this location! Also, what does this “shield” look like and where can it be purchased?Thanks!

Here is one example of the transducer shield and mounting bracket being used. Met Jim and Jody at their plant today to work on the new HB installs. If you want to see some pictures, Jody did a picture documentary of some of the work Lucky Jody fit in the rod locker so could get the lock nuts/washers on at the bow mount. Jim had tools/know how to drill jack plate and thread it so screws for bracket above could screw right in. Also used nylon blocks to raise level of bow unit. Came out pretty good.
