TRANSOM SUPPORT

Heres a question for everyone,what type of transom support do you guys prefer,the one with the yoke that gos around the rear roller and supports the lower end,or the the short one that clips into the motor mount holes and supports it in the center on the motor.Im using the short one and Im curious to know if there are any issues with these,seems to support the engine quite well.And are quick and easy to R&R.

I like the long one to the trailer roller as I feel it supports the motor better. The short one seems to be a ” leverage ” point and I dont care for this. JMHO GeorgeGeorge

I am also interested in BCs position on the need for motor totors. I have seen people just use the installed motor support and I dont think that is what they are for. I think they (the installed ones) are mainly for maintinance, although Ive been wrong before.

We have only suggested a full transom support motor toter. No short ones, no ram blocks just a full length toter.

I have to drive up the interstate to fish no matter where I go. You would be amazed how much the motor still moves without the full length toter. The longer totter has the boat, motor, and trailer as one unit meaning if you hit a bump or go over railroad tracks then all move as one unit. If you use the shorter one then the motor will flex on the transom. That is where the name Transon saver came fron.

If Mr. Pierce and Bass Cat recommend the full length motor toter, that is good enough for me. He built the boats and should be the authority on what is best for his boat.

The Detwiler clips referred to by Tideman work great!!! I used them on past boats with Evinrude engines and the clips perform exactly as they should. The clips allow only about 1/8 inch movement on either side.

I always use the full length transom saver that goes to the trailer. The weight of the bouncing engine is transferred to the frame of the trailer and isnt transferred 100% to the transom of your boat. The others only load the transom and the bracket.

I used the full length transom saver when I first bought my boat, but the aluminum transom saver kept splitting. I went through two before I ended up with the short one. I can see where the long transom saver gives better support to the motor, transom and trailor, but I cant find one that will last. Its an 08 Puma with a 250 pro XS. Anyone know where I can get one thatll last?
