Topic: Trim guages not working

Went out for my second run today after the initial beak in time.So I was able to trim the boat today and it was nice to run without the bow burried.It ran 71.4 @ 5500 rpms with more to go,so Im very pleased with how this PIV runs.My problem is that neither trim guage is working.The trim only guage on the console only moves 1 notch no matter what,and the smart craft guage shows 0.0 on it.So Im thinking that maybe these two guages are not hooked up into the trim circuit.Is there something that I can look for to check this out? Thanks!

It is usually the trim sender on the engine.

I would assume that its near the trim unit?

It us in the left side of the J bracket with the pivot pin notch turning it. SC gauges or analog and year model, which could mean engine warranty also.

I located it.it has a cable running under the cowling to the inside of the engine.This is a 2010 with a Merc Opti ProXS.I just bought the boat,so if this sensor is defective I would assume it would be covered under warranty.I will give the dealer a call in the morning. Thanks for the quick responses.

bcb would this be normal with the pro xs mine is a opti 200 not the pro xs and all i can get is 65mph what is the height on the jack plate fishn4bass

It has a 8″ slidemaster jackplate,setting is flush.Turning a 25p Fury.
