Trim leaking fluid

Looks like Im leaking hydraulic fluid from the cap on my trim motor. Anybody ever work on these before? Looks like I can replace the cap and seal assymbly but Ill need a spanner or adjustable pin wrench to get the cap off. Wondering if I can use a spanner that they use on grinders or if the pins are different. I dont want to have to spend the $$ on a merc tool if possible. Motor is a 2005 pro XSThanks for the help.Kent

a spanner wrench is a spanner wrench. as long as the forks and pins are the right size, i dont see why you coulnd use what ever you have. you might check with your local autozone or similar store and see if they rent that particular tool.

Couldnt get the end cap to break loose with the spanner I found, in fact, one of the pins dang near busted off. I found a real nice Merc Racing guy that is going to let me use his this weekend free of charge. There are some really cool guys in this industry.Thanks for the help pointman.-Kent

its good to have folks like that around, thats for sure. i have found that there are some very specialized tools in this industry. glad you found a solution though.
