New 24v Fortrex if I put it on high will trip the fuse at the battery evertime. I have replaced it with a new 50ampfrom basscat but it still kicks it. Any suggestions Thanks
The Fortrex calls for a 60 amp breaker. Minnkota sells the 60amp breaker however I do not prefer theirs because it cannot be manually tripped. You should be able to find one made by Bussmann or Blue Sea. Also check all connections for corrosion and make sure they are tight.
Youve got something loose somewhere, it shouldnt trip the breaker during regular use. Check battery connections, then go all the way to the plug, foot pedal, etc,,,,, probably in the tm plug.
The 80# should use a 60A breaker, however, unless yours has weakened, you shouldnt be tripping a 50A. Check all your connections and like said above, I bet you find something dirty, corroded, or lose.If you decide on the 60 that can be manually tripped, I carry them instock.JohnJones Trolling Motor Services870 773 3474Motorguide/MinnKota/PowerPole/Lowrance/Humminbird
Does it only trip when running the motor on high? This would lead me to think you are overloading your 50amp circuit. The motor pulls the most current when running on 100%. If all connections are good the 60 amp breaker should solve your problem. (also make sure you have 6 ga wiring on the entire circuit) Last edited by psj706 on October 23rd, 2013, 1:28 pm, edited 1 time in total.
